Silk Pavillon II

MIT Media Lab with Neri Oxman

We had the honor of collaborating with Neri Oxman and her team at MIT Media Lab to document the creation of the Silk Pavilion, an artwork that merges technology and biology. It was exhibited at the MoMA in New York for the exhibition ‘Neri Oxman: Material Ecology’. The Silk Pavilion is a silk structure created by silkworms raised in Teolo. Day by day, they wove the silk according to a specially designed pattern by a team of scientists and designers. This silk artwork was made without boiling the silkworms.
